Lea Emerson’s career as a musician has showcased her multi-talented skills through many genres of performance, including classical piano,  jazz piano, jazz vocals, rock/pop vocals, rock/pop keys, worship leading, song writing, worship song writing,  jazz arranging, jazz liturgy composition and recording in all the afore mentioned styles.  Her performances have taken her from the famous rock venue The 8121 Club in Hollywood, to the Turkish Consulate in Los Angeles.  Her original music has been described as ” mixing jazz-like piano lines and pop-type melodies to create a sound all its own…..unique, aesthetic music which requires a sentient ear”CC Music Review, Los Angeles

Emerson formed the band Envoy with husband Mark Emerson which has featured recordings engineered by Grammy Award winner Bernie Kirsh and performances by John Patitucci.  She has worked with 3 time Dove Award Winner Ken Tamplin on her recent release of Word of Life – Vol. 1 and the soon to be released Vol. 2 which also features the playing of acclaimed pedal steel guitarist JayDee Maness and guitarist Glenn Sciurba.  Other artists she has worked with include Kelly Clarkson engineer Eric Greedy and award winning producer Chris Julian.

Lea currently writes and co-writes worship songs that are being featured in several churches.  She won the “The Fishfest Starfish” contest by the third largest U.S. Christian radio station “95.9 The Fish LA” http://thefish959.com/  for the co-songwriting/performance of “Take Courage, Take Heart.” Lea performed the song at the Irvine Verizon Amphitheatre during “The Fishfest 2012.”

Emerson is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music and a member of MTNA and OMTA.  Her students have been featured at the Oregon State Baroque Festival, the Blue Mountain OMTA Syllabus Honors Recital, California State Music Teacher’s Convention and at the MTAC Certificate of Merit Honors recitals in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Emerson is a native Oregonian and holds degrees from the University of Oregon, where she studied piano with International Chopin Contest prizewinner Dean Kramer and UCLA, studying with acclaimed pianist Antoinette Perry.  She has received piano coaching by top new jazz pianist Lynne Arriale, and internationally recognized classical pianist and teacher John Perry.  Additional studies were with Ed Kammerer in jazz piano, Joan Bradow in classical voice, John Koha studying the natural voice technique and Elizabeth Sabine the “Auntie Dame of Heavy Metal” studying rock/pop vocals.
